Kurt Krueger
Kurt was born in a small farming town in Nebraska and grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. He started his volleyball career in middle school playing for Midnight Sun Volleyball Club through high school. He continued to play in a men’s league his freshman year while attending the University of Alaska Anchorage. Kurt moved to Oregon in 1992 to attend Oregon State University and played club volleyball for OSU enjoying the opportunity to play against other collegiate club programs in the PNW. One of Kurt’s favorite volleyball memories was playing in the Midnight Sun Volleyball tournament in Anchorage on June 21st starting at midnight!
Kurt has been coaching a variety of sports since 2009. He has coached both his son and daughter in soccer, basketball, and 10 years of little league, junior baseball and high school baseball. Kurt reconnected with his favorite sport of volleyball in 2019 as his daughter began her volleyball career quickly sharing the same passion for this amazing sport. He was the JV2 coach for Ida B. Wells High School in SW Portland for the Fall 2021 season and coached the JV team and was the assistant varsity coach for Ida B. for the Fall 2022 season. This is Kurt’s first year coaching for Athena.
When Kurt isn’t coaching he enjoys camping, fishing and crabbing with his family and cheering for his Oregon State Beavers sports teams.
